Pixel Art

Pixel Bot Finished
Silhouette
Silhouette #2
Silhouette #3

To begin with I sketch several silhouettes of robots onto paper. I then decided which of the sketches I preferred and decided from looking at a variety of pixel art references decided to do a low detail 8bit concept.

I then researched colour palettes and discovered that for a successful pixel drawing, the colour palette needed to be complimentary and simple with few colours chosen. After choosing a colour palette I was happy with, I started to create a simple silhouette within Photoshop with a focus on keeping the design symmetrical. Following this, I began to block in colours, beginning with the darker colours for shade and then the lighter colours for light. Detail was then added pixel by pixel to create dimension and shape. I defined certain areas with black pixels to create an outline and emboldenkey areas.

I tried different ways to draw feature to the chest and head which were the focal points of the pixel drawing.
